In Jim's own words... "While attending U of C geology field school in 1981at Nelson B.C., and driving a 1972 Ghia, I spotted a nice 1970 Ghia next door to a friend I was visiting. I told the women who owned it if she ever wanted to sell it to get my friend next door to give me a call. One year later my friend next door calls and says she wants to sell. Told Ken I was broke and too busy with finals to bother, we talk and he decides he is going to buy it. Go back to Nelson in 1998 to ski Whitewater and end up visiting Ken, tells me he is thinking of selling the Ghia. Check it out, still in great shape with 79,000 original miles and the original interior is near perfect except the typical cracked dash. Bring it home that summer, install a 1776 with big valve heads and dual Weber’s and then send it to Mark Idt at Crossfield for body work and Sikkens paint that winter. Later added a new 2 inch narrowed beam with lower spindles, rear disc bakes and Z rated low profile tires on Fuch replica wheels." Jim's car is super nice, it's really nice to see it out of storage, and I'm sure Jim is happy as well!
